Flip Images Online Free — Mirror Horizontal or Vertical

Flipping creates a mirror image — left becomes right, or top becomes bottom. Our free image flip tool handles horizontal flip (mirror), vertical flip, or both in one click, processed entirely in your browser with no upload.

When to Flip an Image

Mirror selfies: Selfies look more natural to most people when mirrored — we are used to seeing our reflection rather than how others see us. Correcting scanner output: Documents placed face-down on a scanner produce a mirrored result. Design symmetry: Flip half of a design to create a perfectly symmetrical composition. Correcting mirrored text or logos: Images captured backwards through glass or mirrors need a flip to read correctly.

Lossless for PNG

Flipping is a pure pixel-rearrangement operation — pixels are moved to their mirror positions without any resampling or interpolation. This means flipping is completely lossless for PNG and BMP images. For JPG, a perfect flip can also be performed without quality loss if image dimensions are divisible by 8.

Private, Free, Instant

Flip runs locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. No account, no watermarks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between flipping and rotating?

Rotating turns the image clockwise or counter-clockwise. Flipping creates a mirror image — left-right or top-bottom are swapped. A 180° rotation is not the same as a vertical flip.

Why do selfies look weird compared to the mirror?

Your mirror shows your face flipped horizontally. Your camera captures you as others see you — the non-mirrored version. Flipping the selfie horizontally shows you the mirror-familiar version of your face.

Can I flip just part of an image?

This tool flips the entire image. For flipping a specific region, crop to that area first, flip it, then recompose in a photo editor.
